ENEL manages a dam for electricity production in Valle di Cadore, a mountain resort in the province of Belluno. The floodplain is filled with debris dragged downstream from the water course or descended from the mountains that delimit it. Over time, debris accumulated at the bottom of the reservoir has dampened the bottom discharge, thus preventing the need to empty the basin if needed. It was therefore necessary to safely restrain the basin through a local excavation to reach the bottom of the tub and release the cap. Surveillance managers to find the best solution required consulting to several companies including Stone. Consultancy that needed skills and availability of operating tools in water and mountain environment. Essential for the successful operation was the ability to work on the bottom from the surface and on a precise space.
After making a survey of the structure and having detected the criticalities, the optimal solution was presented. A solution that can be implemented thanks to the flexibility of Stone's tools and above all to the knowledge that Stone men have accumulated in similar interventions.
The work was done using a ground floating floating pontoon with hydraulic pump "Dragflow mod. HY85B "complete with control unit and drainage pipes.
The dredging operations were carried out with the dredging of the dredged material by the flow of the same with the introduction into the Boite stream release of the Low Vessel Downstream of the dam.
The intervention made it possible to intervene in a timely manner through the excavation of muddy materials located above the bottom drain.
